I am Huei Leong’s wife. Our son is Ian.
I grew up in Hong Kong. After high school, I studied and worked in Japan for 10 years before I moved to Canada. I didn’t have any religious beliefs. All I believed was in myself. As long as I was willing to put all my effort in it, I could get my results. But after I moved to Canada, living in Richmond, I felt my life was out of my control.
In 2008, I started to join Moms and Tots on Wednesdays at Bethany. Then I met Donna who brought me into the Chinese fellowship. My husband Huei also joined me to come to church. We invited Jesus into our lives on Jan 27, 2011. And on Easter Sunday of 2011, we were both baptized at Bethany. God blessed us to join this big family.
It has been almost 10 years being a Christian and I continue to ask God to build me up and use me for His purpose. When the church board nominated me to join them, I was unsure if it was right for me as I feel I might not be ready. I pray God will give me the confidence, courage and wisdom to take on this important role as a member of the board and a servant to our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
I was born and raised in the city of Terrace in northern BC. I am the third of five brothers and was raised in a Christian home. As a teenager, although I continued to attend church and youth groups, I didn't have a personal commitment to Christ or honor God with my lifestyle. I always felt God drawing me to Himself, however. I dedicated my life to Jesus at the NAB triennial in Edmonton and was baptised not long after that.
My wife Liza and I started dating in high school. She stuck with me through some difficult times in university and we were married after we finished. God has blessed us with 4 children who are now 5, 7, 9, and 11 years old. I currently work as a software engineer and my wife is a part time high school teacher.
We moved near Bethany in 2012 and it gradually became our home church. We have been members for a few years and currently help with the preschool part of the children's ministry. I also coordinate indoor soccer at the church on Tuesday nights. I believe that Bethany is positioned to reach a lot of people given the rapid growth of Hamilton and the Lower Mainland as a whole and am excited to see what God has in store.
